August 30, 2017: Throughout several videos and documents, I have used the phrase “your interpretation guides your intervention”. I learned this phrase many years while learning what was then-called “Collaborative Problem Solving”, but could not confirm the actual quote and was not sure where it originated. Recently I found the actual quote, which is “your explanation guides your intervention”, which of course is from Dr. Ross Greene’s excellent book “The Explosive Child”, which has had a huge impact on my approach and career (especially in understanding how cognitive skill deficits impact behaviors).
